The terrain of 2018 is already one that requires adaptation as we navigate the domains of art, design, our environment, and the diverse social landscape. With this in mind, I try to always remember that the transactions we initiate are actually exchanges between people and places, not simply a goal-oriented act of conducting more (design) business. This is fundamentally why I use the term 'agency' to describe the research and bridge-building that I do, although this way of being and sharing might not always follow the standard format or procedure.

Agō, in Latin: to do, make, act –fundamentally speaks to the core of gathering ideas/materials and then finding direction in leading by making or acting. No part of this process is isolated from other components. Solutions , in turn, require the integration of (deeper) listening, sitting still with the material, and then moving forward in a manner that combines the intuitive voice with the intentional action. Agency consequently shows us both overlap and individuality in ways that hopefully leave us more sensitized to our environs as well.

It is in this spirit that I have shifted my creative practice to a lab-like format where experimentation with materials and methods will incorporate atmospheric elements as well as more movement + restorative studies. The research for these projects can be followed via Lost in Fiber | agency on Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr. With a goal of providing even greater clarity about what might work and what no longer works, it is this state of vulnerability (while also sharing resources) that might allow us to peel away the layers that have dulled our senses and perceived engagement.
